1 - Software you should have

Please make sure you have the latest version of the following installed on your computer

Flash Player  - Flash is used to present photos on some pages

Acrobat Reader - needed to open PDF files

Java Script - needed to make parts of the site work

To load these programs if not installed click on the links above. They are all free!

2 - Browsers

There are sometimes issues where some browsers give unexpected results on some web site pages. We constantly test our site on different browsers and recommend

      • Internet Explorer           • Firefox

      • Opera

3 - Opening PDF files

These will open in a new, separate, window.

Make sure you close this separate window by clicking on its close button and not the one in the top right hand corner of your screen which will probably close your main browser window!

This is especially easy to do if using Google Chrome.

Please

Viewing our website

Our site is best viewed using a screen resolution of 1280 x 768.

If you are using a different screen resolution you may need to scroll up and down and possibly sideways.

Perhaps also change the size of the image to, say, 75% although if you do reduce the image size some of the formatting may go haywire!

4 - Playing and saving Audio files

a) To play an audio file

Simply click the ‘play’ button on the control bar for the required recording

b) To download as an mp3 file

(for example to then load onto an mp3 player)

    i) go to the Series list

ii) RIGHT click on the recording required

iii) In INTERNET EXPLORER (other browsers may         differ)

Select ‘Save target as’, select mp3 and then         save in a suitable folder.

Possible problem –

Windows may try to save in the older ‘mp2’ format.

This is a known Window’s issue.

If this happens, first save the file in the mp2 format suggested and then, once saved, change the extension manually to mp3

If you still encounter problems the advice given on the web site below may be of help
